This was a very small stringer bridge located on an abandoned section of road. It was in poor condition, but was an interesting bridge to visit, as it was buried in the woods. The bridge has since been demolished and replaced with a ridiculously wide slab of concrete. The scene is so wide open and sterile it does not even look like the same location. As such, this small bridge offers a great comparison to modern bridges and how ugly they look!

Macomb County has recently been reopening abandoned sections of road, supposedly in response to urban sprawl they have been experiencing. However, the roads they are reopening, such as this one, are not busy roads. They would be better off spending money on improving nearby 26 Mile Road. They have recently repaved sections of that road, however despite the heavy truck traffic on it, they continue to pave it with very narrow lanes with no paved shoulder. A road as busy as 26 Mile needs wider lanes. The trucks have hardly an inch of wiggle room in the current lanes. A little to the left and they are in the other lane, a little to the right and they are off the road.
