This bridge is a good example of a steel stringer bridge type built in the late 1930s and early 1940s. This particular example was built in 1939. It is, like the Jeddo Road Bridge significant as a bridge built with the aid of Depression-related funding. This bridge was kept off of the official government historic bridge lists however, perhaps because it is missing a builder plaque. They were a highly utilitarian design of bridge, and more noteworthy for their historic value than their aesthetic value.
This bridge's steel beams were repainted by the St. Clair County Road Commission in recent years, although no paint was applied to the railings.
