This bridge is significant as a rare example of a small-scale through truss cantilever. Most cantilever bridges were built on much larger rivers, and as part of their design also feature towers that loom over the rest of the truss. With a smaller span, and lower tower height, this bridge offers a much different appearance than the standard cantilever truss bridge. It is historically and technologically significant as an example of a relatively small-scale application of cantilever truss bridge engineering. This bridge also retains good structural and historic integrity, and its continued maintenance is logical choice for both preservation and fiscal purposes.
