This bridge follows a general design that was used in the early 20th century for certain truss bridge applications. The design is composed of built-up members using mostly rolled angles to construct the beams. The bridge has an unusual repeating series of bars that form a railing that is original to the structure. This bridge is a particularly lightweight example of this design. It was likely built by industry that was in the area for their own purposes and needs of crossing the canal here. It does not appear to have ever been part of a public road. Today the bridge is used as a pedestrian walkway.
