This is the last remaining concrete girder bridge in Macomb County. It retains good historic and structural integrity and should be maintained and preserved. Concrete girder bridges are not currently being recognized as historic by governments and the general public, and it is important that awareness for bridges such as these increase. Although rather utilitarian when compared to the intricacies of a pin-connected truss bridge, these are still far more attractive than any modern replacement, and are very old and historic as well.
This bridge is interesting because the plaque lists the contractor for the bridge as Macomb County Road Commission. The road commission must have had their own crew who worked on building the bridge, rather than awarding the project to a contractor as was usually the case.
