Bridge Documentation

This bridge was documented because it is locally unusual due to its use of riveted built-up i-beams as opposed to rolled beams, and also because it is the only other known bridge that has piers with architectural details that are similar to Wadhams Bridge, also located in St. Clair County, particularly the simple rectangle shape set into the solid concrete pier. Original railings have been replaced with modern Armco guardrails. The original railings were a design created and used by the St. Clair County Road Commission on a number of bridges and included metal panels and concrete posts. The ends of the railings terminated in ornamental ball-shaped finials.

This bridge was slated to be heavily rehabilitated in 2013.
