This unusual bridge is dated to 1893, and as such it is a noteworthy, early example of a truss bridge with riveted connections, and thus historically significant. The design of the built-up beams on this bridge as well as its relatively massive members (for an 1893 bridge) make it appear similar to period railroad bridges. However, it is not actually known if this is a former railroad bridge that was relocated for highway use. However, sometimes railroad bridges were relocated and reused on highways.
