Bridge Documentation

This large high level deck truss bridge has been paired with a modern bridge next to it, forming a one-way couplet of bridges. In the context of bridges in this region of the province, this bridge stands out as a large example of a rare bridge type. Lengths given are extremely rough estimates. The bridge was originally built as a railway bridge. In 1945, it was converted to a highway bridge. Girders were added to the approach spans to widen the roadway for this purpose. This required adding unusual vertical members to the original tapered bents to allow the bents to support the additional girders.
