Bridge Documentation

This bridge appears to have been built in 1869, and as such it may be the oldest stone bridge in Wisconsin. It is also a relatively large stone arch bridge both in terms of individual span length and in terms of its multi-span configuration.

The bridge retains decent overall historic integrity, but has been altered with the addition of a concrete arch ring, which was attached to the intrados of the stone arch.

Union Pacific, the owner of this historic bridge, blocked the listing of this bridge in the National Register of Historic Places by submitting a formal objection to the proposed listing of the bridge. This suggests that Union Pacific does not have respect and concern for the historic infrastructure that they are privileged to own today. This was a poor decision for the company from a public relations standpoint.

In June 2020, Mark Boettcher kindly provided some beautiful drone photos of this bridge, as shown below (click for enlargements). He also has three YouTube drone videos available: Video 1 (Tiffany Railroad Bridge - SE to NW), Video 2 (Tiffany Railroad Bridge Fly-Out), Video 3 (Railroad Bridge Tracks and Fly Back).
