This bridge is a nicely rehabilitated example of a pony truss in Wisconsin. Wisconsin does not have a large surviving population of metal truss bridges, nor is the state known for a substantial number of preservation projects for truss bridges remaining on state highways. However, this bridge has been fortunate enough to have been rehabilitated. The bridge is located in a part of the state with particularly few metal truss bridges, so the bridge is locally rare. Built in 1939, it is a relatively late example of a pony truss bridge. Typical of truss bridges built in this period, the bridge has substituted the traditional use of built-up beams in the truss members for rolled beams on the vertical and diagonal members.
