This bridge was built in 1896 and as such is a late example of a bridge built by the Wrought Iron Bridge Company. Typical of the company's later bridges, this bridge has a-frame portal bracing and built-up vertical members with v-lacing, where the v-lacing is oriented so it faces the roadway. The bridge is noteworthy for its slight skew, which is uncommon among pin-connected highway truss bridges. This bridge has alterations that are common among West Virginia truss bridges, which means there is some crude welded repairs to the bridge, particularly steel added to the top chord and end post, these beams also exhibiting bolts that have been replaced with rivets. The approach span is composed of two rolled beams that act as through girders, with rolled floor beams under the deck. The approach span does not appear to be original to the bridge. The original approach span might have been a pony truss.
