This bridge is a role model for all of Michigan's counties to follow. It is one of the few preserved examples of this beautiful, unique, and nationally significant structure type that is indigenous to Michigan. The preservation was carried out wonderfully, and the structure is in great shape today. This particular example is also one of only a few concrete camelback bridges in Michigan to include a cantilevered sidewalk. This structure type tended to be built in rural locations, which is why few have a sidewalk.

This bridge serves one-way traffic with a 1950s era beam bridge next door carrying the other direction of traffic. This works out well, since the narrowness of the curved-chord through girder bridges is always under attack by road commissions, who are worried about head-one accidents on the bridges. The 20 foot deck width is not as intimidating when both lanes are moving in the same direction.
