Great Northern Road Bridge
TC-17 / KH-17 (Great Northern Road) Over Unknown Creek Sault Ste Marie: Algoma District, Ontario Concrete Rigid-Frame, Stationary 0 By: Unknown

This bridge is a rigid frame design. This design was quite common in Ontario, having been started in the 1930s and being used through the 1960s. The underside of this bridge design features an attractive arch shape, characteristic of the design. Many Ontario bridges feature a railing design that is similar to Michigan's design such as those seen on Sigler Road. There are some variations to Michigan's design however, such as as the top of the Ontario railings are a smoother, almost handrail-like design. Another Michigan note is that Michigan did not build many rigid-frames. However there is one here on M-28 that is quite similar to the Ontario design.
