11th Street Pedestrian Bridge
| Park Walkway Over Railroad (Southshore and Metra Railroad) | Chicago: Cook County, Illinois | Metal Stringer, Stationary | 0 By: Unknown |
This bridge is noteworthy for its old construction and attractive balustrade railings. It is among the few remaining structures that are not of recent construction over this large and busy sets of commuter rail line that runs along the shore south of town. The historic integrity of the bridge is good, although it suffers from a lack of maintenance, particularly with spalling on the base of the railings. While the structural integrity of the bridge may remain good, deterioration to the concrete elements of the bridge is reducing its potential aesthetic value. This could be a very beautiful and treasured part of the park if it were preserved.
