There are a number of bridges on the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal that have a curved design similar to the downtown Chicago bridges, but the curve is less defined. This is one of them. This bridge is also one of a number of bascule bridges on the canal that no longer operate. This bridge is a two-lane structure, and was built in 1926. Even though a number of these bridges don't raise anymore, I think these bridges are still unique structures that should be preserved, if anything to retain the unusual appearance they have and the interest they add to an otherwise common street as a result.
