This is the swing bridge visible northeast of Kedzie Avenue, and is one of three utterly spectacular (and rare) swing bridges remaining on the Sanitary and Ship Canal that I could not figure out how to get closer to and get detail shots of. This is unfortunate, since these are among the oldest and most historic in the history-rich Cook County bridge inventory.
This swing bridge is a slightly pointier peak at the center of the span, which makes it look taller. It was likely built around 1897 as most of the swing bridges on the Sanitary and Ship canal appear to have been built.
