New York State has a considerable inventory of historic bridges. New York built many attractive standard plan bridges in the 1920s and 1930s. In addition, New York is noted for having a relatively large number of lenticular truss bridges. Some other rarities such as bowstring truss bridges and bridges with Phoenix columns also exist. On average, New York tends to care for its historic bridges quite a bit better than neighboring Pennsylvania. This website provides coverage of selected counties in western New York.
