Key Facts
Bridge Name Facility Carried / Feature Intersected Location Structure Type Construction Date / Builder or Contractor
Siemens Railroad Bridge Railroad (Abandoned) Over Railroad (Abandoned / Dirt Trail) Siemens (Rural): Gogebic County, Michigan Metal Riveted Baltimore Through Truss, Stationary 1896 By: Wisconsin Bridge and Iron Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Thanks to James Rouse for visiting and photographing this bridge.

This bridge is located near where there was once a rail yard. Maps show this railroad with a dot on the map labeled Siemens. As the car shows in the photo above, the old railroad grade that this bridge passes over is retained as a dirt trail, that even cars can access. The rail line the bridge itself once carried has not been maintained as well.

This bridge is a good example of a Baltimore through truss, which is a fairly uncommon truss configuration. It is also a reminder of the rich industrial and railroading past of the area. The bridge is short, but still quite tall and impressive to view.
