At first glance, this bridge might have the appearance of a very primitive concrete girder bridge. It is in fact even more primitive than the Jefferson Road Bridge in Gratiot County. However, an inspection under the Canboro Road Bridge reveals steel stringers, confirming the true structural type of this bridge. The outside of the outermost beam is covered with concrete, similar to bridges such as the Caseville Bridge. This bridge perhaps breaks from the usual tradition of older bridges being more beautiful than modern bridges, but a bridge this plain from 1910 is certainly the exception rather than the norm. The bridge does have historic value however, as an unusual variation on a common structure type.
