Maybe the "arch" in it makes it special, or the less-common design of the concrete railing posts. If nothing else, this is the only bridge over the lower Tahquamenon River, with the next crossing about 40 miles southwest (also on M-123, and even farther away by road or river). Well, that's it. Thanks for sending the Indian River pictures. Seeing the old/new group photos was bittersweet (I wonder if anyone considered jumping off like the guy did back then?). Side note: a while back you sent me plans for a previous bridge at West River Drive over the Rogue River. The West River Dr. widening I mentioned then has been mostly completed this summer, with only some bridge work remaining. The south half does now have its new railing (flat concrete ends with 5 square metal tube rails). Kind of middle-of-the-road aesthetic, at least by MDOT standards.
