C&NW Powder Mill Creek Bridge Railroad (Abandoned C&NW) Over Powder Mill Creek Near Bessemer: Gogebic County, Michigan Stone Deck Arch, Stationary 0 By: Unknown

Thanks to James Rouse for visiting and photographing this historic bridge.

This is an attractive segmental stone arch bridge on an abandoned railroad line that is still used by snowmobiles and other non-train traffic. It remains in good condition, although overgrown, and with excellent historic integrity. It is one of the many remaining historic artifacts in this area that tell of a time when iron brought prosperity and extensive railroad activity to this rather rural region of the country. They left behind many abandoned railroad lines, and impressive structures like these are important to preserve to remember that significant period in history.
