This bridge is nearby and very similar to the larger Masters Road Bridge. Like the Masters Road Bridge the Riley Center Road Bridge is significant for being built during the Depression. Although smaller, the Riley Center Road Bridge is more attractive and has higher historic integrity because no modern railings have been added to the bridge, despite the fact that Riley Center Road is more heavily traveled and is paved. The Riley Center Road Bridge's railings, stringers, and deck have all suffered deterioration most likely from winter salt. This bridge highlights the need for scientists to develop, and agencies to use, effective, non-corrosive de-icing solutions. Doing so would save bridges, both historic and non-historic, and also produce longer vehicle life on the road as well.
