They utilized the through truss, or went to the plate girder structure type. As such, the fact that this is a pony truss is noteworthy. The structure features riveted connections, v-lacing is present on some diagonals. There is a wooden approach span at the north end of the bridge. The abutments for the bridge are stone.
This bridge was apparently built by the Detroit Bridge and Iron Works in 1888. The truss configuration on this bridge is a double-intersection Warren truss bridge. It is a rare and noteworthy truss configuration. Considering the truss configuration, and the age of the structure, this bridge is one of the most important structures in Toledo.
