This bridge is on a very fascinating rail line, since the Collingwood Blvd. Railroad Overpass is on this line too. It is on an abandoned Norfolk and Western line. The line was originally a New York, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad line.
This bridge is one of Toledo's finest bridges. The bridge is an eight panel pin connected Pratt through truss. Based on its pinned connections and fairly lightweight design, it is likely a relatively old railroad bridge, perhaps dating from 1895-1905. However, it may date to around 1888, if it was built at the same time as the 1888 Collingwood Blvd. Overpass. The bridge features a decorative portal bracing composed of a lattice-filled pedimented portal brace. There is also extensive v-lacing on the structure, under the top chord, on the verticals, and on the sway bracing. Perhaps the other most interesting and noteworthy thing about this bridge is the breathtakingly heavy skew on this bridge.
