Bridge Name | Type | Road | Location | City | Crossing |
| Falknor Road Arch Bridge | Arch (Stone) | Falknor Road (Old Alignment) | Miami County, OH | Rural | Stillwater River Tributary |
Together with the Falknor Road Truss Bridge, these two bridges make quite a pair. Check out the truss bridge's page for a discussion of the "park" that this bridge is in.
Considering that the truss bridge that is on the same abandoned roadway was built in 1899, I think it is likely that this bridge was also built in 1899. Indeed, the truss bridge sits on stone abutments, suggesting stone was being used here in 1899.
This is a one span stone arch bridge, and although the roadway is no longer in use, and this bridge is not maintained, the bridge appears to be in decent shape. Stone arch bridges have proven over the millennia to be a rather durable structure type. I often find myself wondering why we don't continue to build them today in place of small pre-stressed concrete slab bridges that will be junk 40 years from now.
