With metal truss bridges, sometimes good things come in small packages, and such is the case with this little driveway bridge. This is a very short four panel pin connected bridge. From a distance, it might look like a double-intersection Warren truss, but given the fact that the center, downward pointing diagonals are more substantial, I have to label this a Pratt. Truss configurations tend to run together with the really small bridges.
I could be wrong, but this bridge looks very old to me. The connections have some very unusual details to them, and the members and chords are very lightweight. The diagonal member rods are actually tiny! The vertical member in the center of the bridge is built up unusually, with a single lattice element in the center, and batten-like object on the rest of it. This lack of standard, common structural parts, and lightweight design are what lead me to think that the bridge is old, perhaps from the early 1880s.
This bridge is private, but is right next to the road, and you can easily view the bridge and shoot photos from the road.
I hope that whoever owns this bridge realizes what a treasure they have. I was die to have something like this in my driveway! I think I would swallow the cost and have it sandblasted and painted if I owned it, to protect the delicate steel members that make up this bridge.
