| Mehring Way Railroad Overpass | Truss | Railroad (Amtrak) | Hamilton County, OH | Cincinnati | Mehring Way |
I stopped for a few moments to grab some photos of this unusual railroad overpass. It has a heavy skew, making the portal bracing about twice as wide as the actual width of the bridge itself. It is a strange bridge, with a truss configuration that I would call a subdivided Warren configuration. However the subdivision goes beyond just the presence of vertical members, it also refers to members that are diagonal and are almost Baltimore-like in appearance. This bridge has a substantial approach system, as the railroad tracks pass over a bunch of other things like other railroad tracks to get here. These approach spans are all plate girder spans.
