This bridge is a warren pony truss with riveted connections. It retains original lattice railings. The bridge is seated on concrete abutments. The bridge has not been painted recently, but is otherwise in good structural condition, with only the deck being the worst. Like many of the truss bridges I visited in Preble County there is very little traffic on the road, other than myself and the only reason I was on the road was to photograph the bridge!
I am uncertain why Preble County is wasting taxpayer money by pursuing demolition and replacement plans for this beautiful historic artifact. This bridge should be preserved like the over-rated wooden covered bridges in the county, which I had the misfortune of discovering whilst driving down a road with a weight limit/vertical clearance signpost thinking I was headed for a bonus truss bridge on the trip! I don't see any covered bridges in Preble County on the demolition list...
