Otway Bridge Approach Span Old OH-348 Over Scioto Brush Creek Otway: Scioto County, Ohio Metal Riveted Warren Polygonal Pony Truss, Stationary 1923 By: Unknown

Thanks to Rod Detty for visiting and photographing this historic bridge.

This website does not feature wooden covered bridges as outlined in the about section. However, there is no reason that if a covered bridge features a historic approach span of a different structure type, that this approach span should be ignored. The Otway Bridge Approach Span is indeed an noteworthy structure. It is a Warren polygonal pony truss with riveted connections. It retains excellent historic integrity, including original lattice railings. V-lacing is present on the diagonals, adding to the beauty of the structure.

Most photos that are taken of the Otway Bridge focus on the covered bridge, and crop out the metal truss bridge. Rod Detty visited this bridge, and turned the focus on the historic truss span. Please enjoy this photo gallery of the metal truss bridge with the covered bridge cropped out!
