| 3rd Street Bridge | 3rd Street Over Thames River | Chatham: Chatham-Kent Region, Ontario | Metal Through Girder, Movable: Bascule | 1962 By: Bridge and Tank Company of Canada |
At first glance, this appears to simply be a larger 5th Street Bridge but it is in fact quite a bit newer, although its design is quite similar. It is as a result not as historic, but is still a worthy example of transportation heritage, particularly since it tells of a past era when large boats used the Thames River in this area. The bridge is today inoperative for boats. The structure was built in 1961-1962 by the Bridge and Tank Company of Canada, of Blenheim, Ontario, which is a town located southeast of Chatham.
