This bridge happens to be located in the perfect place for a historic bridge. Located on a quiet, lightly traveled winding road, this bridge is in the midst of Balls Falls Conservation area, where a number of preserved buildings from a mill remain. The bridge is quite near to the impressive Balls Falls. The result is a scenic, historic setting in which the bridge fits well.
The v-lacing and outriggers on this bridge have an unusual configuration that includes v-lacing spanning between the vertical and the edge of the outrigger. There is also v-lacing under the top chord and end post. Illinois steel stamps are present on the bridge. The original railings have been replaced with modern railings. Some rivets have been replaced with modern bolts.
