Key Facts |
Bridge Name | Type | Road | Location | City | Crossing |
| Chalmers-Forrest Road Bridge | Truss | Oxford-Waterloo Road | Waterloo Region, ON | Rural | Nith River |
This is an eight panel pin connected Pratt through truss. The bridge features a lattice portal bracing design. There is v-lacing present under the top chord, on the verticals, and the sway bracing. Pole railings, which appear to be original, are present on the bridge. There are attractive caps at the ends of the top chord on this bridge. The first section of sway bracing at either end of the bridge appears to have been replaced. The deck present on the bridge is wood with an asphalt wearing surface. There is a steel stringer approach span present at the southern end of the bridge.
This bridge and associated road appears to have been recently abandoned. This raises many questions about the future of this bridge. I hope that perhaps it might be relocated to a park setting where the public can easily enjoy this beautiful structure.
