Key Facts
Bridge Name Facility Carried / Feature Intersected Location Structure Type Construction Date / Builder or Contractor
Island Park Arch Bridge
Hamlin Street (Pedestrian Path) Over Grand River (West Channel Around Island) Eaton Rapids: Eaton County, Michigan Concrete Deck Arch, Stationary 0 By: Unknown

This bridge is very narrow and thus appears to have been built to carry pedestrians only. This bridge is a single span concrete arch bridge. It features concrete balustrade railings. This bridge retains a high degree of structural and historic integrity and is a good example of concrete arch construction in Michigan. One unusual element of the bridge design is that while arch and railings are straight, the deck of the bridge is on an incline. The result is that the railings are higher on the island side of the bridge.
