| CN Railroad / M-54 Bridge | Plate Girder | Railroad - CN (Amtrak) | Genesee County, MI | Flint | M-54 (Dort Highway) |
This is a historically intact example of a deck plate girder railroad overpass. The only exception to this is missing plaques. Much of the structure has rusted, but all the original elements appear to remain, including the guardrails. There is considerable artistic design and detailing on the concrete supports/abutments. This, in addition to the classic ornate guardrails and along with the complex appearance of the riveted girders, combine to make an attractive bridge. This bridge is similar to the M-53 Imlay City Railroad Bridge, which has intact plaques.
