View of small bridge on the causeway leading to the bridge on the St. Ignace side. Although its original railings are lost, this bridge actually predates the Mackinac Bridge. The causeway originally served the ferry service that preceded the bridge.

View heading north on I-75. This is what your first view of the bridge on northbound I-75 is like. Note the nice t-beam overpass in the foreground. If only that overpass had original guardrails this would be quite the historic bridge scene.

Views while on Star Line St. Ignace to Mackinac Island ferry. These were taken in the morning, which accounts for the very deep blue color of the water. It was also quite windy on this day.

You may go to Mackinac Island for the horse and buggy feeling, but don't forget to marvel at 20th century engineering while you are there as well! Mackinac Island offers some good side view shots of the bridge.
