Key Facts

Bridge Name

Type Road Location City Crossing
Spring Brook Bridge Arch (Concrete) Pedestrian Access Crossing Eaton County, MI Eaton Rapids Spring Brook

Much like the Island Park Bridge, this bridge appears to have originally been built for pedestrian use only. It is indeed an old bridge, as seen by the wood plank outlines that show that plywood was not used for the frame to pour the concrete of the bridge into. The bridge is a single span concrete arch bridge. It connects a park and a school building, which may have been its original intended purpose. One of the coolest things about this bridge is the unique star-like design for the railings. I found it refreshingly different and attractive. One of the guardrail panels has had a piece of plywood placed over it, as seen in the last panel on the right end in the above photograph; perhaps someone damaged that panel or something. They painted it and part of the abutment white also. None of that really looks all the attractive, although the overall bridge still is very attractive. Otherwise, the bridge appears to be in great condition!
