| West End Bridge | Arch (Trussed) | US-19 | Allegheny County, PA | Pittsburgh | Ohio River |
This is the first Ohio River Bridge, located right after the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers merge. The huge arch on this bridge and its location truly make this bridge the gateway to the Ohio River. Spectacular views of this bridge can be had from Point State Park in downtown Pittsburgh. You really have to walk on the sidewalk of this bridge right to mid-span and look up to get a feel for the height of this bridge's arch. While at mid-span, turn around for some excellent photos of the Pittsburgh skyline. This bridge features some warren pony truss approach spans also, which add to the character of the bridge.
