This is an attractive little Warren pony truss. It features a wooden deck, which was somewhat damaged when I was here, with scraps and pieces of the wood laying loose on the bridge. The bridge has been fitted underneath with support beams, so I suppose the trusses are mainly decorations these days. Despite that, the bridge is still an asset to the surrounding area.
Information and Findings From Pennsylvania's Historic Bridge InventoryDiscussion of Bridge The ca. 1910, riveted, single span, 43'-long, Warren with verticals pony truss bridge is supported on ashlar abutments with flared wingwalls. Ca. 1996 the lower panel point connections were changed from riveted to welded, a number of verticals and diagonals were replaced in kind, lower chord members received welded repairs, and modern beam guiderails replaced metal lattice railings. The altered bridge does not have integrity of original design. Neither the altered bridge nor its setting are historically or technologically significant. Discussion of Surrounding Area The bridge carries 1 lane of an unimproved road over a stream in a wooded area that does not have historic district potential. Bridge Considered Historic By Survey: No |
