The state of Michigan was noted for designing a unique bridge design. The design featured taking a standard concrete through girder, and making the girder have an arch to it. Michigan built a considerable number of these bridges in the 1920s, and mainly only Michigan built them. However a few isolated documented "clones" of this design have appeared in other places including Ontario, Ohio, and with this bridge, Pennsylvania. While quite different in appearance from Michigan's design, the engineering ideas behind them appears to be the same. Whether this bridge was built by someone who looked at Michigan's bridges, or someone who just thought the same way is unknown. Regardless, it is a very rare structure type and worthy of attention.
