Millsboro Railroad Bridge Truss Railroad (Abandoned Monongahela Railroad) Washington County / Greene County, PA Millsboro Ten Mile Creek

While my second trip to Pennsylvania, of which this was a part, was to focus on more-threatened highway truss bridges, I couldn't help but stop and grab a few photos of this bridge which is clearly visible from Highway 88. I did only grab a few photos however, and the one seen on this photo is the only decent one, due to the poor weather conditions. This bridge is a seven panel Parker through truss with riveted connections. It sits on concrete piers, and various plate girder spans provide an approach to the bridge, including spanning over Highway 88. This bridge is located right at the mouth of the Monongahela River. This abandoned section of rail line is appears to be part of the old Monongahela Railroad line. The still-in-use Norfolk Southern owned line branches off of this one just north of this bridge, following Ten Mile Creek. As a result, this bridge should be considered historic as a contributing structure and feature of the rail line.
