Beaverdams Road Bridge Truss Beaverdams Road Niagara Region, ON Thorold Gibson Lake (12 Mile Creek)

If you were to cross the Verne Road Bridge with the Indian Trail Bridge, this might be the result. Still retaining the horizontal top chord, and the lattice railings typical of 1910s bridges, but having the large rivets, and thick v-lacing of 1930s truss bridges, this is an interesting and attractive bridge. Ontario seems to have a lot of the newer truss bridges, and they take good care of them. This bridge is no exception. It has a good coat of paint on it, and the deck looks like it was redone. Despite a repair operation, this bridge was luck enough to retain its original guardrails. Although I did not have time to photograph it, there was another bridge like this one, although it was a two-span example on Merrittville Road over the same waters as this bridge. I chose to detail this bridge because it also had a railroad bridge next to it, which I could detail as well. If you visit this area and do have the time, it might be worth it to visit that other bridge as well.
