A copy of MDOT's photo which shows the bridge in its original location. Note that the original guardrails had already been replaced at this time.

This is the I-96 bridge that is next to the truss. Not too bad, as expressway bridges go, but it pales next to the truss!

The expressway bridge is much newer than the truss but still uses rivets over bolts.

I believe the pieces of metal you see on this beam held the original wooden deck on this bridge.
