Steel abutments have the appearance and construction of a steel through girder, like you often see on railways.

Interesting. A number "2" is on the back of this plaque. Not sure what it means.

This i-beam appears to hold the approach span up. How it does this, I do not know, since it is in such bad condition. I am also unsure why this is in such bad condition, when the superstructure is even painted. Perhaps they forgot to paint this beam!

These are the tall caissons that support the bridge at this end. The supports at the other end are now concrete, with the old caisson visible laying in the water next to it.

Here is that concrete support. It looks pretty old too, so the replacement must have occurred in the first half of the 20th century.
