Key Facts

Bridge Name

Type Road Location City Crossing
Victoria Bridge Truss Ridout Street Middlesex County, Ontario London South Branch Thames River

This bridge is very similar to the Dundas Street Bridge, aka Kensington Bridge. A more thorough discussion of this bridge type is available on that page.

This bridge is a two span pony truss with riveted connections. The railings on the pedestrian sidewalks on the bridge appear to be original. There are modern railings on the trusses, but before those were added there was likely no railings at all on the bridge, since this was the case with Dundas Street. This bridge has a distinctive skew to it, and carries a lot of vehicular traffic with no weight limit. The bridge is in excellent condition, but perhaps not quite as good as Dundas Street. The deck and paint look a few years older on this Ridout Street bridge. The deck is concrete with a layer of asphalt on top.
