Montreal Bridge Railroad (Abandoned Soo Line) Over West Branch Montreal River Near Montreal: Iron County, Wisconsin Metal Through Girder, Stationary 0 By: Unknown

Thanks to James Rouse for visiting and photographing this historic bridge.

This is a through plate girder that has a decent sized single span. It features a square shape with no rounded ends. The tracks on this rail line are long-removed, but the original wood ties from the deck remain in use. The rail line is today used as a snowmobile trail. Despite this, there have been little alterations to this bridge, including no redone decks and no guardrails added. This is good news from a historic preservation perspective, since it means that the bridge retains good historic integrity, with the only alteration being the removal of the rails.
