Montreal River C&NW Railroad Bridge Railroad (Abandoned C&NW) Over Montreal River Ironwood and Hurley: Gogebic County, Michigan and Iron County, Wisconsin Metal Deck Girder, Stationary 1911 By: King Bridge Company of Cleveland, Ohio

Thanks to James Rouse for visiting and photographing this historic bridge.

This bridge is noteworthy as a surviving example of work done by the King Bridge Company in the early 20th Century. Unlike other late 1800s bridge companies that were absorbed into the American Bridge Company, the King Bridge Company continued to run independently. During the early 1900s they built a number of railroad bridges, in particular plate girders and steel stringers. This bridge is an example bridge from that period. The deck of this bridge is partially cantilevered out on riveted brackets that allow the deck to extend beyond the width of the girders themselves.
