This Whipple truss bridge was built by the Wrought Iron Bridge Company, which was noted for building many Whipple trusses. This bridge makes an interesting comparison to the Graysville truss bridge, as it is also a Wrought Iron Bridge Company Whipple truss. The Graysville truss appears to be an older structure however. It also features a more distinctive design that could be clearly associated with the Wrought Iron Bridge Company even if it didn't retain a builder plaque. The design of the Graysville Bridge's portal bracing, the lack of v-lacing on the verticals, and a few other design details in the connections are items seen on many older bridges built by the company. The Adaline Bridge in contrast appears to be a slightly newer example. It perhaps shows the progression of standardization that characterizes the truss bridge history. The components on the bridge are more "generic" meaning one might find nearly identical elements on another bridge built by a different company. This is not to dim the significance of the Adaline Bridge; on a scale of significance, both bridges would rate about the same, they each represent a rare truss configuration with fairly good historic integrity.
