This is a very significant structure. It consists of a main through truss span with a pony approach span at each end. This alone is visually attractive and uncommon as well. The approach spans are especially noteworthy however because they utilize the rare Queenpost truss configuration. Queenposts, whether riveted or pinned, are extremely rare.
Although a late example of a pin-connected structure, the 1912 main span is significant as an example of a transition structure. While pin-connected, it integrates the use of riveted connections for parts of it. In particular, the hip vertical is rivet-connected at the top chord, although not at the bottom chord. There is a pin at for the diagonal connection to the top chord at the hip vertical however. The approach span is riveted and no pins are present, also suggesting that whatever company built this bridge was at least beginning to use all-riveted connections in its smaller spans.
