Bridge Documentation

Abandoned, this is a strikingly large and impressive stone arch highway bridge, which is quite unusual for this part of the country. Due to its size and 19th century construction, the bridge would hold its own even in areas like southeastern Pennsylvania where this bridge type is far more common. Lengths given are from the National Bridge Inventory. The National Register Nomination Form reports a total length of 175 feet. With substructures made from the same materials as the superstructure and no bearings, it is often somewhat subjective when measuring the start and end of a stone arch bridge, as its difficult to discern where superstructure becomes abutment when on the deck. In Google Maps, the total length of stone including abutments measures about 188 feet.
