Bridge Documentation

Despite its young age, this bridge is featured on HistoricBridges.org due to its regional importance as the only crossing over the river between Cairo and Memphis. In 2026, this bridge will be 50 years old, and between continued demolitions of older large river truss bridges, this bridge may arise to National Register eligibility by the time it hits that 50 year cutoff date. There are very few historic bridges in this region on either side of the river as well.

Based on news articles, Missouri was the lead agency for the construction of this bridge.

Bethlehem Steel was the superstructure fabricator and contractor. Massman-Johnson of Kansas City was the substructure contractor.
